What we have done, and what to do if it still does not work for you.
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA across this website. We are not claiming certified conformance, because nobody independent has audited it. What follows is what we actually did and what we know is imperfect.
What is in place
- Every page is ordinary semantic HTML with one main landmark, headings in order, and a "skip to content" link as the first thing a keyboard reaches.
- Everything works with a keyboard alone. Focus is always visible, as a solid blue outline, and never removed.
- Text and background colours were checked against WCAG AA at the size each is actually used. Where a pair fell short, the colour was darkened rather than the rule waived.
- Every photograph carries a text description, and the page still makes sense with images switched off.
- Text reflows to a single readable column on a phone, and stays readable when you zoom in or increase your browser's font size.
- Nothing moves, flashes, auto-plays or pops up. There is no carousel, no modal and no chat widget.
- The page respects your system setting for reduced motion.
- Colour is never the only way information is given.
What we know is imperfect
- No independent audit has been done, and no assistive-technology user has tested these pages yet. We would rather say that than imply a clean bill of health.
- The site has been checked against a keyboard and a contrast checker, not against every screen reader and browser combination.
- Our demo is a telephone call, which is not usable by everyone. See below.
If the phone is not the right route for you
The main thing this site asks you to do is ring a number, which does not work for everyone. Email admin@onnightshift.com instead and you will get the same conversation in writing, with no disadvantage and nothing extra to explain. You are welcome to use a relay service on the number, and you are welcome to have somebody call on your behalf.
Telling us something is broken
If any part of this website is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to hear about it, and a one-line email is plenty. Say what page it was and what happened; you do not need to know the technical reason.
Write to admin@onnightshift.com. We aim to reply within two business days and to tell you either that it is fixed or when it will be. If a fix is going to take a while, we will offer you another way to get what you needed in the meantime.
